Agra is a small city, home to a huge monument that brings millions of tourists here every year, the one and only, Taj Mahal.
Being part of the Golden Triangle, together with New Delhi and Jaipur, makes it easy accesible by train and by road.
What to do:
One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the most impressive symbol of love that is actually a mausoleum and one of the spots found on most bucket lists.
Tip: Go there as early as possible to avoid queues (opens at 6AM).
Don’t bring a big bag as you’ll have to go through a security check.
Don’t bring tripod, pencils or matches.
Price: 1050Rs (13€) – you can also pay by card or book it online here.
* TAJ MAHAL IS CLOSED ON FRIDAYS *
Where to stay:
I recommend you to choose an acommodation close to Taj Mahal and we found the best place. Hotel Sidhartha is located 5 minutes walking from the West Gate on a very quiet street where the access of cars and tuk tuks is restricted. The hotel was very clean and the staff so nice.
Where to eat:
Food here is delicious and very good priced, but most important, the owner of the restaurant, who’s also serving you, it’s the sweetest person ever and delivers the best service you can have.
How to get to Agra:
The train schedule between New Delhi and Agra is very good and you have a lot of options to pick from.
Duration: 2-4 hours, depending on the train you choose.
Tip: Uber and Ola work here, so don’t get tired with the tuk tuk drivers trying to overcharge you.
